Big Island Estate – Hokulia, Hawaii
“No house should ever be on a hill, or on anything. It should be of the hill. Belonging to it. Hill and house should live together each the happier for the other.” – Frank Lloyd Wright
This luxury home was designed to reflect its dramatic location on the side of a volcano and yet to stand out as unexpectedly unique.
Custom details and unique features are woven throughout, including an award winning tv enclosure with art by local artist Christina Skaggs, which she calls, “Alohi, meaning to sparkly, shine, brilliant as the chocolate gold leaf does just that, taking on a different and magical hue in every light of day and night.” Work was completed while at Trans-Pacific Design with architect Roger Brasel of Hawaii Island Architects, and honored with an ASID Award of Honor in 2020.
