Modern Victorian – Portland, OR

“Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void, but out of chaos.”   – Mary Shelley

Principal Designer, Amy Vail, first saw this beautiful Victorian at an open house and was saddened by how the interior space had been “Frankensteined” by numerous owners through its lifetime.  She had no idea that she would one day be hired to bring it back to life.

To classify this project as a remodel would be an understatement.  Work involved turning living rooms into bathrooms and bedrooms, outdoor areas to in, and even the safe relocation of a squirrel family.  For all the heavy lifting and moving of walls, electric and plumbing, the goal and vision remained; this house was once upon a time a cherished and loved Victorian, and as Victorians are a celebration of details, for this property to be restored to her deserving glory that would always need to be the focus.
